True Review: Temecula KOA (California)

Temecula KOA: July and August 2020

Nice site, but don’t go in the dead of summer, or on a holiday. The Yahoo and Weekend Warrior crowd grows exponentially, along with the fraternity type drunken shenanigans. Yes, I’m talking about YOU (the drunken idiot speeding through the campground in his golf cart at night with his kids loose in the open air backseat). I’m more of a punk rock drunken party type of gal, keeping my kid safe and on the ground. Ha!

The cell service is squat for anyone without AT&T. The wifi is a JOKE unless you are at the café. The bar is awesome. Stiff drinks, but they are expensive. The store has a fun selection of all kinds of stuff and the café has decent food. The staff is VERY friendly, which kept us going on some days.

Our neighbors tried calling a ride share to take them to a local winery, of which there are many in the area (Bonus for you winos out there). Great idea. But, without the service, the guy couldn't find them and canceled the ride. 

Also, don’t, I repeat, do not lose your phone on Day 2 of a six day stay. Luckily, someone was kind enough to turn it into lost and found and we were able to get it back within 18 hours of losing it. Not that it mattered because we had ZERO service.

The pool has ZERO shade, but there are three options (kiddie, regular and lap). Also, during COVID, pool time is cut to 45min slots, one per day, during busy periods. Which Spawn did not approve of. Speaking of COVID, the KOA staff were pretty much the only people who seemed to behave like there was any kind of pandemic going on.

This is a great site for rattlesnake season. They seem to like the pickle ball courts most. Unfortunately, we aren't avid players of the sport, so we missed out. 

I can't even type that without cringing... Sarcasm, folks. That there is sarcasm.

Overall, we would recommend to friends, but would tell them our story first, and recommend Skinner Lake State Park instead (if the splash pad is open).

And no pictures. Again, no cell service meant the phones (i.e. our cameras) were put away. I did get one good one of Spawn with slime in her hair. Oh, how that was fun. Again. SARCASM.

Happy 2023!

Welcome back to www.rnrta.com! So... 2022 happened. As mentioned in the last post (ONE YEAR AGO) we have pretty much transitioned over to social media. But, sometimes I get in a mood where I feel like sharing. Welcome to the couch. Check out the Intsa , but no Tweets this year. I don't think so anyways...  Facebook ? Go for it! Still alive and old over there.  Spawn is now in Kindergarten. Cabana Boy is rocking locally again. And I have a new permanent gig. When we travel, it's usually just myself and Spawn. Cabana Boy will travel with us locally.  Oh! How could I forget The Boys! Welcome Riggs and Murtaugh! Another reason we didn't travel a whole lot this year. These two became part of the family and we had to keep them quarantined until they has all their shots. Still working on those True Reviews, but head on over to our socials and catch up.  Cabana Boy won the "BEST" decorated campground! Finally. Tee hee!

Whoa! What Do You Mean It's 2022?!?

 Howdy, everybody! I have no idea where the rest of 2021 went... Oh wait... I do remember! I took the advice of the youngin's and went to a social media platform. I don't find it nearly as exciting as writing for the blog. Does that make me officially old? Yup. And lazy too. I barely even kept up with the Intsa or the Tweets. Facebook ? Well, I feel like I did much better there.  Let me share a couple of things that we accomplished over the remainder of 2021 through the sharing of images. We became  certifiable  with our brand new business cards! In June, Spawn and I went on a Girl's Only trip through Utah and Colorado. We met up with some family here and there, but the roads were narrow, winding and sparsely populated. Until we got to the National Parks. You would've thought is was Black Friday with the crowds. Luckily, Spawn managed to fall asleep EVERY SINGLE TIME we got to monuments. So, I didn't feel guilty driving though slowly and goose necking out the windo...
